About Radio 1

Radio 1 is an independent Czech station with roots in the pirate Radio Stalin broadcast staged during Prague's Totalitní zóna exhibition in autumn 1990. It returned as Radio 1 in spring 1991 and became the country's first private independent radio station. Its editorial approach remains outside conventional chart formulas, with contemporary electronic and guitar music joined by hip hop, jazz, hard rock, reggae, world music and film soundtracks.

The station gives substantial space to Czech independent artists, live interviews and Prague's cultural life. Its schedule includes Velká sedma, Hitparáda Radia 1, Inclubátor, Ešus, Knižní servis, Zátiší and concert recordings in Radio 1 On Stage. Radio 1 broadcasts in Prague on 91.9 FM and is also available through its official online player.
