About Radio Gazelle
Radio Gazelle was founded in Marseille in 1981 by young members of the Maghrebi community and later operated as an association station on 98 FM. It became known as a multicultural platform where immigrant communities could discuss local issues, share information, and hear music connected to their cultures.
The service was renamed JAAM after regulatory approval in 2023, but its FM and DAB+ authorizations were revoked by Arcom in February 2026 after broadcasts could no longer be confirmed. Radio Gazelle therefore remains significant primarily for its history in Marseille's community-radio landscape.
