CFQR 600 AM operated as Montreal's premier English-language talk station from 1963 until 2010, broadcasting with 50,000 watts daytime power from transmitter sites in LaSalle. Owned by Corus Entertainment in its final years, the station originated from studios at 1411 Rue Saint-Alexandre. CFQR became legendary for its news/talk format and community-focused programming serving Montreal's anglophone population.

The station featured landmark shows like the "Aaron Rand Show" and became synonymous with Expos baseball coverage. CFQR nurtured local media personalities including Ted Tevan and Suzanne Desautels. Though the station ceased broadcasting in 2010 after 47 years, it remains remembered for shaping Montreal's English media landscape and serving as a cultural hub for the city's anglophone community.
