mephisto 97.6 is the non-commercial local and training radio service of Leipzig University. Students have produced its journalism since 1995, with weekday broadcasts on 97.6 FM and a continuous service through DAB+ and the online stream.

The station reports on Leipzig politics, society, culture and music through news magazines, interviews, commentary, podcasts and audio features. Volunteer editors work to professional standards while learning research, presenting and cross-media production. Its local remit reaches young people across greater Leipzig rather than only the university campus.
