About Radio Kras

Radio Kras is a community radio station founded in Gijón, or Xixón, in 1985 and broadcasting on 105.0 FM. It describes itself as an alternative communication group open to social movements and people who receive little space in conventional media. Contributors create programmes independently, giving the schedule a deliberately diverse and grassroots character.

Current output ranges from social debate and Asturian cultural life to books, cinema, jazz, punk, blues, reggae and experimental music. Shows such as Cinefagia FM, Relieves and Vericuetos combine specialist knowledge with local voices and extensive audio archives. The online stream and downloadable programmes extend this long-running Gijón project beyond its FM signal.
