About Radio Lajes
Rádio Lajes was founded on 8 August 1947 by personnel at Portuguese Air Base No. 4 on Terceira Island. After adding distinct AM and FM services in 1992, it was reorganised in 2004 into the station that operates today.
Known as the Voice of the Air Force, its mission is to inform and entertain while explaining the work and people of the Portuguese Armed Forces. Online listening and an official mobile application extend this military radio service beyond the Lajes base and the Azores.
