About Radio Piratona
Radio Piratona is a free, community-run station broadcasting on 106.1 FM from Vigo. It exists to amplify people and groups that receive little space in large media, inviting new participants to learn the technical and collective work behind making radio.
Esperta follows current affairs in Vigo and Valadares, while Sons da Ría champions local rock and punk. Galiza Metálica covers the Galician underground metal scene, and other programmes address politics, ecology, language, culture and youth interests. Independent and Creative Commons music appears alongside volunteer-made talk, giving the schedule an openly alternative identity rooted in Galicia.
