Radio Trasmissioni Modica, known as RTM, began official programming on 1 September 1977 after local entrepreneurs in Modica developed the idea during the rise of Italy's free-radio movement. Live broadcasts and direct telephone contact with presenters helped the station build an audience across the province of Ragusa.

RTM now describes itself as a reference station for south-eastern Sicily. Its output brings together music, regularly updated reporting from an active newsroom, interactive entertainment, social media participation, events, charts, and on-demand editions of selected programs.
