Rádio Universidade de Coimbra is Portugal's oldest university radio and broadcasts around the clock on 107.9 FM. Created in 1986 from an earlier academic radio centre, it became a media outlet made and managed entirely by university students.

RUC is both a radio school and an independent cultural voice, training new presenters, journalists and technicians each year. Its adventurous schedule explores alternative rock, electronic music, hip-hop, jazz, world music and emerging culture alongside Coimbra news and academic debate.
