Energy Wien is part of ENERGY Österreich and the international NRJ Group, with Austrian broadcasting dating from April 1, 1998. Under the slogan Hit Music Only, it uses a contemporary hit radio format built around current pop, dance, rhythmic pop, and modern rap. The station targets an urban audience and is available on FM in Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland, as well as nationwide through DAB+.

Listeners can also use the ENERGY app for iOS and Android, which provides the live program, additional themed channels, track information, an alarm, and a sleep timer. Energy Wien complements its music rotation with podcasts and specialist programs, including ENERGY CLUB FILES, ENERGY x FOLLOW PODCAST, and Euro Hot 30.
